"All journeys have secret destinations of which the traveler is unaware." ~Martin Buber
Our tours include Texas Day Trips, cities and towns of interest within easy driving distance of Dallas. Mineral Wells, TX is a surprisingly diverse little Texas town. We visit the lovely Clark Gardens, the beautiful terrain of Lake Mineral Wells State Park. Most exciting is the old Baker Hotel, which once drew Hollywood celebrities to its doors. The hotel has just finalized plans for a complete renovation, which will make Mineral Wells a “destination” once again.
MINERAL WELLS, TEXAS
The Clark Gardens are a remarkable blaze of color and variety in the Spring. The gardens are charming. A bonus at Clark Gardens is one of the most impressive miniature trains you’ll ever experience.
Just across the road from Clark Gardens, we find ourselves at the Mineral Wells Lake State Park. This is one of the two State Parks in Texas to offer rock climbing. You can explore “Penitentiary Hollow,” a magnet to the explorer in each of us.
TYLER TEXAS TOUR, INCLUDING ROSE GARDENS AND TIGER CREEK WILDLIFE SANCTUARY
Come join the fun on October 9, 2019. October is a glorious celebration of the roses which have made Tyler famous. We will tour the rose gardens, where you will find 14 acres of 600 varieteis of rose, distributed throughout 38,000 rose bushes. We will have lunch at a delightful tearoom and tour the Tiger Creek Wildlife Sanctuary, where we’ll be “upclose and personal” with the lovely tigers that have been rescued. Please email me for a brochure and itinerary.
GRANBURY,TEXAS DAY TRIP
You are invited to join the Literary and Travel Society on our “Boutiques and Antiques” tour to Granbury. Just an hour West of Dallas, sits the charming little “beachfront” town of Granbury. Lake Granbury is so large that the city fathers dreamed up a beach where none existed before!
The lovely old Limestone Court House anchors the town square. On the square you’ll explore the many boutiques and antique stores. There is no shortage of restaurants along the way. This is a day of pure fun, food and shopping. Please email us for a complete brochure! This tour will be on October 30. We’ll get to see how this town “dresses” for Halloween!
CRYSTAL BRIDGES MUSEUM, BENTONVILLE, ARKANSAS
The Armstrong Browning Library, pictured below is one of the “hidden gems” of Texas. Located on the campus of Baylor University, it contains the largest collection of Elizabeth and Robert Browning literature and artifacts in the world. It contains the largest collection of secular stained glass windows in the United States. The tour also stops at other “must-see” locations in Waco. These locations vary, but lunch is always included! Please contact us for future tours.
