"All journeys have secret destinations of which the traveler is unaware." ~Martin Buber
Our tours include Texas Day Trips, cities and towns of interest within easy driving distance of Dallas. Mineral Wells, TX is a surprisingly diverse little Texas town. We visit the lovely Clark Gardens, the beautiful terrain of Lake Mineral Wells State Park. Most exciting is the old Baker Hotel, which once drew Hollywood celebrities to its doors. The hotel has just finalized plans for a complete renovation, which will make Mineral Wells a “destination” once again.
The Clark Gardens are a remarkable blaze of color and variety in the Spring. The gardens are charming. A bonus at Clark Gardens is one of the most impressive miniature trains you’ll ever experience.
Just across the road from Clark Gardens, we find ourselves at the Mineral Wells Lake State Park. This is one of the two State Parks in Texas to offer rock climbing. You can explore “Penitentiary Hollow,” a magnet to the explorer in each of us.
Evening at Crystal Bridges. A lovely time to enjoy dinner in “Eleven,” the excellent restaurant, or to take in the evening exhibits or concerts.
The Armstrong Browning Library in Waco is one of the “hidden gems” of Texas. Located on the campus of Baylor University, it contains the largest collection of Elizabeth and Robert Browning literature and artifacts in the world.
